The stopwatch in Apple's Clock app is built for one session at a time. It shows laps while it runs, but the moment you tap Reset the total is gone, and there is no list of past times to look back on. If you wanted a stop watch history you had to write the number down before clearing it.
Start a count-upTap +, choose a count-up instead of a countdown, give it a name like "Workout" and start it.
Stop it when you're doneTap Stop. The card changes to "Stopped after 1h 23m 45s", with the name of whoever stopped it if the timer was shared.
Look it up laterThe stopped count-up stays in the grid for three days. Tap it to see the start time, the stop time and the total elapsed time.
Because a count-up can be shared like any other timer, the history is shared too. Start a nap timer, send the link to your partner, and whoever stops it, the stop time and the total show up on both phones. The same works for a coach timing a drill, a family logging contractions, or roommates splitting a long drive. How sharing works.
Countdowns keep a history as well. A finished countdown shows "Completed at 2:15 PM" for three days, so you always know when it actually rang. More about timer history.
No. The Clock app's stopwatch shows laps while it runs, but once you reset it the time is gone. There is no list of past stopwatch sessions. Shared Timer keeps one: each count-up you stop stays on your list with its total time for three days.
Open the app. Stopped count-ups stay in the grid for three days, each marked with who stopped it and the total time, for example "Stopped by Sam after 1h 23m 45s". Tap one to see the start time, the stop time and the total.
Yes. Start a count-up, share the link, and everyone sees the same running time. Whoever stops it, the stop time, the total and their name show up on every phone.
No. Once you dismiss a Clock timer, it's gone and there's no record of when it rang. Shared Timer keeps the completed time on the timer's card and detail screen.
Three days. After that, finished timers and stopped count-ups clear on their own so the grid stays tidy.
